Install Spire Server and Spire Desktop applications
Server Installation
- to be installed on the server where the Spire Company data will be
- check system requirements - https://www.spiresystems.com/requirements/
- double-click on the install executable file: spire_server-3.11.7.exe (numbers will change depending on which version of Spire you are installing)

Allow installation to continue - click Yes
|
|
|
accept the Destination Location folder unless you prefer to have your programs installed in a different folder click Next |
|
|
accept the Database Mode unless you are well versed in PostgreSQL and prefer manage the database engine manually click Next
|
|
|
accept the Database Location folder unless you prefer to have your data installed in a different folder or on a different drive - this is the actual accounting database so it is advised that it is installed to your fastest drive - if this is a re-install,
click Next
|

Restore Spire user accounts, licensing and other server attributes.|
choose a Database Superuser Password for access to the database in PGAdmin write this password down as it is not stored anywhere in Spire or PostgreSQL |

accept the API Server Port as 10880 or enter another port of your choice
click Next
|
|
|
Add Firewall Exceptions to automatically configure the network security settings to allow access to this program and the data |
|
|
Select option to Enable or Disable data collection to help Spire solve potential issues click Next
|
|
|
click Next to accept the new Start Menu folder name
|
|
|
click Next
|
|
Install Spire Desktop now or remove checkmark to install it later
|
Spire API Server installation should only take a few minutes
|
|
|
PostgreSQL installation should only take a few minutes
|
|
|
if you checked Install Spire Desktop it will now begin installation, and should only take a few minutes
|
|
|
if installation did not register fully, you will be prompted to restart to install registry keys
click Finish to restart and complete installation
|
|
|
- if the installation was completed and registered properly, you will be prompted to select an Internet browser (do not choose ‘Internet Explorer’) to register this installation license with Spire head office
|
|
|
if this is a new install you will be prompted to create a Spire administrator account - this user has full access to all companies and settings - other administrators can be added later - if upgrading from a previous version, or importing from BusinessVision, an existing user can be used
|
|
|
click Continue to retrieve or create a Spire license
|
|
|
enter your license information (option to use your Google account) or click Sign Up to register a new license
|
|
|
you will then be prompted to add your company information
click Save |
|
|
a license certificate will then be generated…this may take a few minutes
|
|
|
log into Spire Server Administration, with your Administrator credentials - see also Installation - Companies
|
|
Desktop Installation
- to be installed on the computers where the Spire will be used

- double-click on the install executable file: spire-3.11.9.exe (numbers will change depending on which version of Spire you are installing)

Allow installation to continue - click Yes
|
|
|
accept the Destination Location folder unless you prefer to have your programs installed in a different folder

Select option to Enable or Disable data collection to help Spire solve potential issues click Next
|
|
|
select which icons you’d like Spire Setup to create click Next
|
|
|
click Install to perform extraction and installation |
|
|
installation should only take a few minutes
|
|
|
click Finish to complete |
